ACT 1 Scene 2 QUEEN MAB CASTS A SPELL ON PUCK

ACT 1
Scene 2
A forest.
Enter QUEEN MAB.
[ She is so slender and tiny that the toadstools tower above her. Her gold crown is like the helmet of the Goddess Athena.  She wears the golden mask down, covering her eyes. She walks behind a fallen oak leaf and some acorns and reappears on the other side.  Flowers tower above her.  A butterfly is lowered down on one of the flowers.  QUEEN MAB is easily small enough to ride on the butterfly. ]
QUEEN MAB
Come, Coachman, come, soon the revels begin!
Tonight my horses shall be buzzing bees,
To enchant the brain of sleeping Robin,
So he cannot say "I" without a sneeze!
Robin's brain shall be our field of clover!
When he means to whisper, now will he shout,
And say the same words over and over,
But Queen Mab's lair he will never find out!
Enter COACHMAN.  [He is a beetle driving the hollow hazelnut coach led by 8 buzzing bees.  He climbs down and helps QUEEN MAB into her hazelnut.  She CRACKS her cricket bone whip.]
QUEEN MAB
Buzz! Buzz!
[The BEES get a move on and BUZZ even louder, circling round and round the stage, upsetting the flowers and sending a blast of flower petals out into the audience.  The whip CRACKS and QUEEN MAB LAUGHS like the little mad woman she is.  They exit.]
